What They May Ask You

• Did you hear a bang, a snap or a grinding sound?
• Is the door stuck open, stuck closed or off to one side?
• How old is the door, the opener and the house?
• Has anyone repaired it before?

If your home is older, say so. Past patches and mismatched parts are useful clues.

Notes and Photos First

Say you snap three quick photos before the visit: the whole door, the springs above it, and the tracks on each side. Add a short note about what you heard. That small step can help a provider plan the right tools and parts.
